President Joe Biden is holding a ceremony to honor the 2021-2022 recipients of the Medal of Valor at the East Room in the White House.
The Medal of Valor is awarded to “public safety officers cited by the Attorney General and recommended by the Medal of Valor Review Board,” per the Department of Justice.

Biden is hosting the ceremony at 9:30 a.m. before departing on a trip to Japan for a meeting of the G-7, as the White House and congressional leaders continue to negotiate over the debt ceiling.
